Thoughts on creativity

Welcome to Uki at Mt Warning. This site will bring you the wonderful features, accommodation, B&B`s, facilities, entertainment and talented people of the region surrounding the unique timber town of Uki. Situated in northern New South Wales under the great towering granite finger of Mt Warning, the town is home to artists, musicians, potters and those who enjoy a peaceful pristine environment. Established as a timber-getting town in days long gone, Uki is now a creative retreat for the traveller looking for something a little off the beaten track. We continually load stories of local people, produce, events, features and services...just to tempt you to come on down and get infused with a little sanity and use the creative experience to ...well ...get a life! An authentic life.

By the way...you may ask about our web name? Mt Warning is of course the name that Captain Cook gave to this granite peak as he threaded his way through reefs and up the east coast. For a long time before Cook, the Aboriginal people called this mountain Wollumbin...which means cloudcatcher. And catch clouds it does. For locals it encapsulates all that is special and magic about this region.
This site profiles accommodation, life drawing classes, pottery classes, good local eateries, massage providers, artists profiles, local growers, things to do in the area and much more.
