Drawing from life Some people have a wonderful natural eye for form and shadow.
Others (like me) tend to struggle a bit, but there is no substitute for lots of practise. That whole business of getting your eye to see rather than simply look.
People try various tricks, like drawing upside down or in my case I am using pen and ink, rather like a primitive quill. I find that it helps to control my hand and eye co-ordination. Until I have achieved some fluency, I find a pencil is a bit out of control for me.
I also have to admit that 2 glasses of red wine also help a lot to loosen up the lines! It seems that all is fair in love and drawing, so I dont get too hung up on how to keep the lines flowing.
